Birthdays, holidays and special events
We can help celebrate birthdays by making the child a crown, special project, and sing to them. They can bring a treat for the class and celebrate their special day.
We have a holiday party for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas/Holiday, and a January Blizzard Party. The teacher’s job is to plan special activities for the parties and inform a director of any supplies needed. The teacher can learn, plan, and share ideas with the Parent Involvement Coordinator.
The Parent Involvement Coordinator plans a monthly Parent Involvement activity. These are special events and other teachers may be asked to participate.
Nap schedule
The teacher’s job during nap time first is to help all the children rest and fall asleep. The teachers can rub their backs, bounce them, and help them relax. The teacher will play soft music, turn off the lights, and encourage the children to sleep and rest
The teacher can work on room organization, lesson planning, and getting activities ready for the remainder of the nap period.
Teachers are encouraged to use this time to input observations into assessment portfolios and plan for the children.
Playground procedures:
Children must be counted prior to going outside and once children are lined up to return indoors. After arriving in the classroom count them again to make sure you have everyone! (Check children onto playground using Brightwheel and back into classroom)
Please do a visual scan of the playground to make sure the environment is safe. Look to make sure gates are closed.
Children can not go outside once the temperature drops below 25 or above 90. (This is the "feel like" temperature). Children must wear coats outside if the temperature is below 65.
